AVOCA Beach bed and breakfast business The Acreage walked away with one of the most prestigious prizes in this year's NSW Tourism Awards last night.

Set in two hectares of gardens in the historic Picketts Valley the 4 1/2 star B&B took out the hosted accommodation category at the annual awards ceremony held in Sydney.

Judges for the award said The Acreage had shown innovation, professionalism, business acumen and a commitment to quality and service.

Although only a stone's throw from the bustling cafe and shopping strips of Terrigal and Avoca, visitors are immersed in a world of luxury and seclusion.

Award-winning features include three elegantly decorated queen-size suites, each appointed with a luxurious marble bathroom and spa.

Tourism Minister Sandra Nori said the overall quality of the retreat was second to none.

``Most categories were hard fought, leading to a higher number of awards of distinction," Ms Nori said.

``And that means visitors to NSW are getting the best from our tourism industry."
